Lee Lansing Research Library

Our research library focuses on local, state, and genealogical history. The library includes books, journals, and records on the following topics:

  • Genealogy (published and unpublished family genealogies)
  • Local Historical Records (military, cemetery, marriages, etc.)

Library items are non-circulating and can only be used in the research library.

Archives & Collections

Historic Dumfries Virginia maintains an archive and collections, which include historical photographs and documents, historic objects, textiles, furniture, and archaeological artifacts. Researchers who wish to view items in the archive and collections should call the museum or fill out the form below to schedule an appointment, or view our non-exhaustive online artifact archives here.

Hours

The Lee Lansing Research Library is available year-round by appointment only. Please call to schedule a visit or fill out the below form.

HDVI staff, volunteers, and all visitors will not be allowed into the buildings if they display any of the symptoms associated with Covid19 or if they had known exposure to a Covid19 case in the prior 14 days.

Non-Member: $15/day

Member: Free

PWC Teacher: Free

Copies: $0.25/page

Remote Research

Staff: $15/hour

Volunteer: Free*

*This potentially could take several weeks depending upon availability of volunteers and your place in line.
