A reception with light refreshments and recognition of contributors will start at 6:30 pm. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm and includes voting on the budget and open Board of Director positions. If you haven’t had a chance to meet our new Executive Site Manager or see the Annex’s makeover\, we welcome you to come by the Museum Annex before the meeting. The Museum and Annex will be open 11:00 am-6:00 pm on the day of the Annual Meeting.

DESCRIPTION:The Weems-Botts Museum welcomes area homeschool families to a tour of the historic house museum and a hands-on\, SOL-based lesson on archaeology. Families will participate in a mock “dig.” Kids will have so much fun they won’t even know they are learning about observations versus inferences while they use their critical thinking skills to interpret the artifacts they discover. They will also get the chance to hold real artifacts\, try and piece together potsherds\, and make a fossil imprint or petroglyph carving to take home. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it in our covered pavilion area in Merchant Park. $5/youth (6-18); adults and children under 6 free. Reservations appreciated.
