Happy Holidays! While the museum closed for our November-April hibernation, we love to open for festive and educational programming and launched our end-of-the-year fundraising campaign to help keep these free and fun programs available at no charge! Donate here and check out our December 2019 and January 2020 calendar featuring opportunities to party, learn about Virginia, and care for the wildlife!
Saturday, 12/14, 10:00am – 6:00pm: The Town of Dumfries will kickoff the holiday party with their Town parade at 10:00am! Stop by the Weems-Botts Museum from 1:30-4:00pm to listen to a live performance by the Broad Run Strings, craft a pinecone animal, enjoy warm and tasty treats, and take a free tour of the historic house decorated for the holidays! Head to the Christmas Tree in the Town of Dumfries at 6pm for the tree lighting! Free tickets for the Holiday Open House here.
Once you have returned from the holiday travels and parties, RSVP a free ticket for our special January Members First program – Saturday, 01/11/2020 – the first of the year! Scholar Jack Bruce will present his research on the Henrico Coal Mines as he works to publish his book! RSVP a free ticket here if you would like breakfast included.
What about the cold squirrels staring at us from Merchant Park? We love our fluffy animals and as a Wildlife Sanctuary, we will make sure to feed them too! Join us at our January Children’s Day at the Museum Sponsored by Walmart – Saturday, 01/18/2020 – to craft pinecone bird feeders and learn about how our early Americans stayed warm without flipping on the heat switch! RSVP for your free tickets here.
